Message :you caused the gasket failure with the silicone fix. Either way, you're right, MISTAKE ! ...................... I still think all this talk about head gaskets is premature. There are many reasons why a Z overheats.

I agree, headgasket talk is premature.
Mine didn't overheat (at least not on the temp gauge)...it would just blow the vent valve and I'd see/smell steam.

I "assumed" that the vent plug was working/vibrating loose so I stopped it. Again, since it turned out to be a symptom...I think I just accelerated a more pronounced failure that highlighted the real problem.
